Two live websites, two different phone numbers.
- The finding
- A Salem plumbing company was quietly running two live websites for the same business, each listing a different phone number as its main line.
- The receipt
- I pulled the raw HTML of both sites. One published one number; the other published a different number as its primary call-and-text line — both live, both claiming to be the real site.
- What it costs
- Google splits the ranking credit between the two sites instead of stacking it on one, and some callers get pointed at the wrong line. A well-reviewed shop stays out of the top map spot it already earned.
