Case study · Portfolio + CMS
A gallery wall Julian curates himself.
Julian Bender shoots portraits, places, and cars, and he needed a portfolio that framed the work the way it deserves without a developer on call every time it changed. So I built one: an old-wall, gold-frames gallery where every gilded frame is drawn in code, backed by an admin panel where Julian uploads photos, drags the wall into a new arrangement, and rewrites any line of copy on his own.
A frame shop, drawn in the browser
The whole gallery is code. The gilt frames, the bevels, the way the light catches a corner, the quilted wall behind them: all of it is drawn with CSS, so a new photo drops straight into a real frame instead of a placeholder box.
Built so he never has to call me
- CSS-drawn gilt framesThe frames, mats, and bevels are rendered in the browser, so uploading a photo puts it straight on the wall in a real frame.
- An admin panel, not a code editorJulian logs in, uploads a photo, and it joins the gallery. No files, no deploys, no me.
- Drag to rearrange the wallHe drags frames into a new layout and it saves. The wall is his to curate whenever the work changes.
- Every line of copy is editableTitles, categories, the about text: all editable in place, so the site keeps sounding like him.
- Live in a dayFrom a shared folder of photos to a portfolio on his own domain in a single day.
★★★★★ “Awesome website service. Made me a perfect portfolio for my photography business. Will definitely be recommending Crewsive.”
