Case study · Portfolio + CMS

A gallery wall Julian curates himself.

Julian Bender shoots portraits, places, and cars, and he needed a portfolio that framed the work the way it deserves without a developer on call every time it changed. So I built one: an old-wall, gold-frames gallery where every gilded frame is drawn in code, backed by an admin panel where Julian uploads photos, drags the wall into a new arrangement, and rewrites any line of copy on his own.

The Photos Worth Framing landing page: a dark gallery wall with gilt-framed photographs flanking the title 'Julian Bender'.
01 The landing wall. Every frame, the diamond-quilted wall, and the light on the gilt are CSS, not image assets.

A frame shop, drawn in the browser

The whole gallery is code. The gilt frames, the bevels, the way the light catches a corner, the quilted wall behind them: all of it is drawn with CSS, so a new photo drops straight into a real frame instead of a placeholder box.

The Photos Worth Framing gallery: eleven gilt-framed photographs arranged across a dark wall, each captioned with a title and category.
02 The gallery. Julian sets the arrangement, the titles, and the categories himself.
